I was lucky enough to be given a place in the London Marathon 2018 for Seafarers UK - to have the opportunity to run for this fantastic charity that supports a variety of other seafaring charities, by cascading money across the fishing industry and it's supporters to ensure that vital funds are available.
When the London Marathon fixed for April 2020 was postponed, I decided to accept a place for Seafarers UK for the October 2020 London Marathon, to run again this year, in the hope that I can again raise my target of £1500.00.
I have seen for myself the impact that the fishing industry has had through the collapse in the fish supply chain and the crash of fish prices generally. As always, SeafarersUK have stepped in to provide support across the industry and running the London Marathon again in October gives me the opportunity to say thank you for the help and to ensure that there are funds for all seafarers in to the future.
I am not a natural runner and found the 2018 challenge particularly hard. This year's marathon will be no easier, particularly as I am now two years older and in to my fifties. I will be joining the lovely Big D on his healthy eating plan from our Ready Fish Box scheme and intend to get him out running with me, during the next six months, to see what progress both of us can make on our healthy eating and exercise journey.
I set out below the logo to link to my donation page. I realise that the nation as a whole is facing austerity in these difficult times but would appreciate even a small donation to support Seafarers UK - who have always been there for the various seafarers around our UK waters.
